Review: Sudio Sweden VASA Headphones

When I’m traveling, there’s one thing I never leave home without – a good pair of headphones. For me, they serve so many functions when I’m on the road from helping me pass the time during long travel days or finding creative inspiration. They allow me to watch movies or TV shows on a long flight, inspire my next video while listening to music, stay connected with family, friends, or clients via Skype, and the ones with a built-in microphone also allow me to leave voice memos on my phone which I like to do when writing a video script.

In the past, I hadn’t given much thought to the quality of headphones I’ve used. But in the last couple of years video production has become a priority for me, so good quality headphones has become very important. When I’m working from home, I prefer to use full headphones that cover my ears, allowing external noise to be blocked out so I can focus solely on the audio in the video. But as I’ve been traveling more this year, I’ve been finding myself editing more videos on the road and thus require a pair of headphones that take up less space but don’t compromise on quality.

A few months ago I decided to try out a pair of in-ear style headphones from Sudio Sweden, an electronics company based in Stockholm, Sweden. They specialize in studio-sounding products with stylish finishes that range from over-the-ear, to stay-in-ear models, wireless and plug-in versions, and compatible with Android and iOS mobile devices. And aside from your standard white and black coloured headphones, they also have a wide variety of colours to choose from include electric blue, burnt orange, and chocolate brown.

I opted for a pair of their VASA in-ear headphones in classic white with rose gold finishes. Honestly, my headphones have never looked so classy! Some of the features of the VASA headphones include:

  • 3-button remote
  • built-in microphone
  • 2mm jack to plug into mobile devices or laptops
  • a variety of ear sleeve sizes for the best fit
  • a clip to secure the cord so it’s not pulled from head movements
  • a leather carrying case so your headphones don’t get tangled in your bag

When I’m not at home editing a video, I always use in-ear headphones. I’ve found that I get the best audio quality from them because external noise to blocked out, plus you’re not being that person on public transit where everyone can clearly hear what song you’re listening to through your headphones.

The audio quality of the VASA headphones were fantastic but it took me some time to find the right placements in my ear to get that quality. At first I thought it was very thin sounding as I was only hearing the higher frequencies. But with a little maneuvering and swapping for different sized ear-sleeves, I was able to get the right placement in my ear to hear the entire audio spectrum.

Overall, I was very impressed with the quality of the VASA headphones and the sleek design.
